BrowSculpt Eyebrow Lamination Aftercare

Brow lamination is one of the hottest eyebrow treatments out there right now. With its ability to manipulate brow hairs into your desired position, it’s no wonder that brow lovers can’t get enough of the results. However, to maintain laminated brows you need to ensure that you’re following the correct aftercare. Our easy-to-follow brow lamination aftercare tips will ensure that you get the very best results, every time.

How to look after brow lamination in the first 24/48 hours after treatment

As part of your eyebrow lamination aftercare, it is crucial that you:

  • Avoid getting the brow area wet for 24 hours

  • Avoid contact with direct sunlight, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms and swimming pools for the next 48 hours

  • Avoiding excessive rubbing or touching of the treated area for 24 hours

We also recommend that you follow these guidelines in the run up to and the days after your BrowSculpt treatment:

Avoid using exfoliating (be it AHA, BHA or scrubs) and anti-ageing skincare around the brow area for three days either side of your treatment

  • Avoid fake tanning products (including gradual tan) on the face for three days either side of your treatment, as it can discolour the eyebrow tint (unless you’re after khaki coloured brows)

  • Your stylist will apply some light brow make up at the end of your treatment, however you should avoid applying any further heavy make up (foundations, etc) on the area around the brow for 24 hours

  • It is strongly recommended that you apply a conditioning serum twice daily after brow lamination to maintain healthy, hydrated eyebrow hairs. You wouldn’t undergo a chemical treatment on your hair without conditioning and caring for it, and your brows should be no different. The HD Brows Brow Miracle Daily Conditioner is ideal as it not only strengthens and conditions the hairs, but also prolongs the wear of your eyebrow tint. You can also use the SOS Rescue Brow Balm as an intensive overnight treatment to keep brows in tip top conditioner (think of it as a hair mask for your brows).

  • You should avoid getting your brows wet for the first 24 hours after your treatment. Coming into contact with water could interfere with the lamination process and impact the longevity of your treatment. Avoid swimming pools and baths for 24 hours and be extra careful in the shower and when washing your face (avoiding if possible).

  • Redness after eyebrow waxing and eyebrow threading is completely normal and a common side effect. It’s simply a slight irritation of the follicle from where the hair has been removed and should subside over the course of the day. There’s not much you can do to speed up the time it takes to settle, but there are things you can do as part of your eyebrow threading aftercare which should help.

Avoiding the use of exfoliators (such as scrubs and glycolic acid) or anti-ageing skincare (such as retinols) for three days either side of your HD Brows treatment will help to reduce any skin sensitivity. If you have naturally sensitive skin, please let your Stylist know and they will be able to apply a barrier to protect the skin when waxing.

If you’re prone to those pesky spots or bumps after waxing, there are a few simple tricks to avoid these from popping up. Applying the HD Brows SOS Rescue Brow Balm around the brow following your treatment can help to soothe the skin and reduce the risk of threading spots. Your pores are more open following a hair removal treatment, so it’s best to avoiding touching the treated area and applying make up for 24 hours, as they may lead to clogged pores.

Although redness, bumps and slight sensitivity are completely normal, it’s important to contact us immediately if you experience any swelling, itchy rashes, bruising, grazes or cuts.

  • After hair removal, the skin can be left sensitive and prone to irritation from heat. For this reason, you should avoid sunbeds and direct sunlight for at least 48 hours after your brow lamination treatment.

  • Fake tan is a big no-no both before and after an eyebrow tint. The tan can react with the tint, turning your custom-mixed brow dye into an unflattering shade of green. Therefore, we advise against applying any tanning products, be it a professional spray tan, self tanner or gradual tan moisturisers, for three days either side of your treatment.

If you really, really wish to tan, apply a barrier of HD Brows SOS Rescue Brow Balm (or other multi-purpose skin balm) to the hair and around the brow area prior to tanning to reduce the risk of discolouration.

It’s also worth noting that waxing treatments will remove any fake tan that’s on the skin, leaving you with a paler patch around your brows.

  • Brow lamination does not permanently set your hairs in your desired, brushed up position. It breaks down the bonds in your hair so that you can easily manipulate them into the look you want. All you’ll need to do is brush them back into place with a spoolie brush in the morning to get them back to that fluffy finish – no product required. These results will last for 6-8 weeks.

To really enhance laminated brows and maintain that freshly laminated look right up to your next appointment, an ultra-strong eyebrow gel like Brow Glue is a must have.

  • Your stylist will apply some light brow make up to complete your BrowSculpt treatment. After that, we recommend that you avoid applying any heavy make up around the brow (such as foundation or concealer) for 24 hours after. The hair follicles can remain open for a while after hair removal, so if you are prone to sensitivity or breakouts, you may find that heavy make up could clog the pores.

  • Brow lamination is a chemical process, similar to a lash lift or hair perm, so is not something that can be removed. However, the hairs are not fixed in place so if you don’t like the brushed up position, you can simply brush them back down with a spoolie brush and they will stay in place all day. The results will fade after 6-8 weeks and your brows will return to their natural growth pattern.
